||Yet another dentist visit
Posted on October 19th, 2007
|We set out to the dentist first thing this morning. The visit was surprisingly short; mom has yet another abscessed tooth and so they couldn't just continue as planned.
We visited the pet store nearby and picked up a few more of these. Our cats love them, but they keep hiding them some place we can't locate. When the two they currently have disappear we'll rotate in these new ones.
On the way back we stopped at Rite Aid for junk. I picked up a bag of Andy Capp's Hot Fries and a Mt. Dew. These two items along with a PB&J made up my Lunch. I haven't had the fries in a while -- they were excellent.
The rest of the day was spent trying things on the computer. I learned a new trick, namely playing catch with exceptions. That's not much of a feat for most languages (notably Java and C++), but in the language I'm using they are very rarely used. In fact, they are so rarely used that they require that you link in a library and include a special compiler instruction. They make some things easier however.
I also ran the random antivirus scan today; it took about an hour for it to scan all 140,000+ files on this system. In the meantime I just continued the Metroid: Fusion game I'd started at the dentist's office.
Today is also a bit of a rarity in that I didn't find anything particularly interesting to link to (hence the product placement).
Instead, here's a plug for a webcomic done by someone on a forum I frequent. The comic does feature slash from time to time, but it has plenty of fun to make it ignorable. Insecticomics -- In Space No One Can Hear Starscream (it was going to be "You scream, I scream, we all scream for Starscream!" but that was too long of a title according to Kickback).
