Getting stuff in order
Posted on December 20th, 2008
Today began with a trip downstairs to get a newspaper from the vending machine in the lobby. This didn't go well; in the end it ate several quarters and never dispensed a paper.

Much of the day was spent getting things packed and ready to go, but we didn't actually run anything over there today.

During the evening we received a Christmas package from relatives. It contained cookies, brownies, two types of coated chex mix and some homemade candy. Our diets were already shot, so this just kept the status quo.

Some news on the hosting front: I re-read the notice from the domain registrar. The $20 renewal fee is the standard rate; the actual cost will depend on the domain being renewed. According to their site, my site currently costs just $8 to renew. The bad news is that I misread the figure for the host I've been planning on moving to; it's actually about twice the cost of my current host rather than half the cost. In other news, the plan info from my current host has been updated and some of the values that didn't match before now match -- they reduced the plan's features to match the control panel's displayed limits rather than visa versa. One bit still doesn't match, but I could care less about that stat.

I spent the remainder of the day working out what to do with my various projects and poking at the new comic. One of the things I did was update Linkfest; I've been a bit lax in updating it lately. Another thing I did was compile a list of what needs done to which project. I figure tomorrow I'll start winding my way through it, item by item.

Two links of the day today. First there's Muppet Labs having yet another mishap and then there's the aftermath of the screw up.

Lastly, here's the Advent Calendar link again.
