|We decided to do the big two week shopping after all. We began the day by visiting the pharmacy. The same homeless guy that had been there previously was there again today. Unlike the guy at the mall that is always there, always just laid off from someplace, and always needs bus fare or money for something else (yet never leaves on the bus) I'm afraid the guy at the pharmacy is genuinely homeless -- he talks non-stop; oh he'll have a conversation with anybody nearby, but a lot of the time nobody is there and he's yammering away anyway.
Planning ahead, I got meself a 1 Liter of Caffeine Free Root Beer.
The grocery store was mostly uneventful as usual. The conversation at the checkout was a bit disturbing. Mom and the cashier got to talking about the cashier's job. 8-hour workday with two 15 minute breaks and no lunch break. Considering my legs don't hold up to 45 minutes of standing and my blood sugar craps out after 3 to 4 hours, I'd either be in serious pain or dead in a coma after that kind of shift.
Lunch was a Red Baron four cheese pizza and most of the root beer. It's nice to be able to have pizza on shopping day again. Many years ago I'd get a store-brand frozen pizza and have it on shopping day. Soaring blood pressure brought an end to that in 2005.
Most of the rest of the day was spent thinking about Project Phoenix and how its various parts will go together.
This evening my dad topped off the day by baking fresh cloverleaf rolls and sticky buns.
