Day Trip II
Posted on September 6th, 2007
Today began very early; 7:30 AM. I fixed a Mr. P's Pizza for lunch around 9:15 AM. Somehow I ended up cooking it oddly because it came out crunchy. To be honest that's a mistake I'm going to make an effort to repeat -- as Chris Farley used to say, "That was AWESOME!" .

The lengthy road trip began at 10:00 AM. An hour later we were at the dentist's office. I brought along my DS, its power cord and both Super Mario 64 and Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap. In other words, there was a pretty piss poor chance of me reading about some Hollywood couple's bitter divorce fight that's only a poor imitation of my brothers' lives or the super secret #1 male sexual fantasy (two women, duh. We're not complicated). I only played Zelda in the end. After about forty five minutes the DS's battery power died and I switched to the AC adapter.

Two and a half hours later mom's teeth were done. We headed straight home. The trip back wasn't particularly eventful save for the one moment where mom screamed and momentarily panicked over a bug going by the windshield.

I spent the evening fighting code again. Finally I decided to gun it and watch the fallout. I uploaded everything required by the system I've been building and edited three pages of the site to use this system. I then compared the speed of these three pages to the rest of the site. Appearance-wise, both versions are identical. Speed-wise, it was depressing. The new version was noticeably slower -- noticeably enough to be annoying.

Thus I restored those three pages to their original form and tossed the system out the Windows. I was going to be using a similar system for other sites, so now they need to be done another way. Static HTML methinks.

Behind every fancy and elegant solution is an overlooked but critical flaw that must be worked with. As my cat phrased it, the problem with cleaning yourself with your tongue is where you're eventually going to have to lick.

In other news, it seems that there's a new threat to the American people. The video of Bush's speech regarding this threat has been making the rounds, so I thought I'd pass it along. The Decider's Decision.

Also it seems that Osama Bin Laden is going to be releasing another video soon. I'd like to bring one of his older videos back to center stage in the meantime.

Tomorrow is going to feature some home repair / customization work in the morning. Thus the cats and I will bunk in my room for several hours.
