|As I'd suspected, mom and I went to the bird store. After a long discussion about how to get the birds to eat less pricey mixes, we bought seed and a new feeder. This new feeder is solely for thistle seed. Hopefully it will encourage more goldfinches to show up.
We picked up lunch at Target as it has Lean Cuisines and charges $1.50 to $2 less than the grocery store for the same meals. Recently I've been eating the grilled sandwiches, and just as before that cyst appeared. So today I picked up a soft bread sandwich instead of the grilled ones. I also picked up a Mexican Lean cuisine that looks interesting.
Mom and I went to the clubhouse to pickup a package and we talked with the landlord for awhile. It seems the boxer is a support dog for a woman with bipolar and schizophrenia. This news just made mom's day. On the plus side the package was something that will hopefully allow her to leave the apartment without fear. This item is a canister of MACE.
Frankly I'm of the opinion that this will end up being used on a NON-THREATENING animal, which might well provoke the attack she's trying to prevent (if not a lawsuit). Judging by past experiences at the vet's I'm not convinced she can tell a threatening dog from a non-threatening one. Mom claimed the stuff doesn't hurt the dogs, which is very sharply against anything I've ever read or heard about MACE -- it's basically watered down tear gas: causes intense burning, temporary blindness and if inhaled it causes a feeling of suffocation and in the case of people with asthma (like her) , it can actually kill by suffocation! It's nasty stuff. She's also going to be carrying it with the safety OFF, which is just begging for misuse. On the plus side, it only has 10 rounds, though one is enough for trouble.
The rest of my day was spent cleaning up Necros Cavern so that it'll compile and run under Windows, FreeDos and Linux. I also wrote a little program to help manage Din's voluminous core library.
Last night I went to bed at 11:30 PM and simply couldn't sleep. After tossing and turning for a few hours, I got up and messed around on the computer. This yielded two amusing YouTube videos, but little else.
Links for the day:
First off there's the two YouTube videos I mentioned. Both involve hamsters: one with an elevator and two with a wheel.
An ad for an air traffic controller is available in braille. Hooray for red tape.

Lastly here's a nifty (if stupid) site that lets you check if a site is down for everyone or just you. The Christian forum I'm on has been MIA all week for example; it's not just me.
