Holy blog post Batman!

Today was rather fast paced. I didn't get any progress made simply because I was busy away from the computer for much of the day.

The first thing we did today was run an errand. We needed, among other things, a new microwave. The old microwave will spend the last of its days in the kitchen at my dad's workplace. We picked up a number of things to make the apartment a tad more livable as well as a little trinket I'll be writing about in a moment.

The new microwave is larger and uses a different timer control setup than our old one. It seems that the simple "set the time to 1:30 and press START" style of control has given way to a selection of over a dozen modes and 10 "power levels". I don't really see the need for a microwave to be this complex or have more power levels than your average Dragon Ball Z character. It's kind of like if Windows was replaced by DOS. The KISS principle has been violated.

Lunch was the pizza day we'd planned on, but the pizzas turned out rather gooey. The crust was brown and the cheese melted, but the rest of the pies were putty. The likely cause is that the pizzas froze in the freezer and didn't thaw enough before and during cooking. They were still tasty, but we've done better with pizza.

The trinket I found at the store today was something I wasn't expecting to see. It was the 1966 Batmobile in Hot Wheels form! Now Batman has always been a favorite of mine, but the 1966 incarnation (which I saw on TV as a kid) is my favorite take on the Caped Crusader and Boy Wonder. For more on the toy Batmobile check this article on Action Figure Insider and for the old TV show check Wikipedia.

In other news, scientists have found a void in the void. I've seen people reference "the Immunity Syndrome" from Star Trek: TOS when talking about this abnormality, but personally I think "One of our planets is missing" from Star Trek: TAS sounds a bit more accurate. However, the 5 of us that remember that episode are too few to be heard from.

On a lighter note, I ran across this page of frequently asked questions about farts. That's right: I didn't go looking for that link. It just wafted my way.
