A day with Spiderman
Posted on September 2nd, 2012
Most of the day was spent fussing about with programming while watching Spiderman episodes via Netflix. That is, I finished watching Spiderman Unlimited and watched all of the 2003 series.

The programming was the little game I mentioned yesterday. It's now playable, but not quite complete yet. I'll wrap up what's left sometime next week. I had decided to work on it as I felt it might be a good idea to get some practice in before working on the bigger project I was thinking about, and it's a good thing I did. I ran into a number of unexpected problems, and eventually fixed the biggest problem by going outside of the toolkit I was using. The game was being made via Lazarus, which seemed like a good idea until I discovered a problem that couldn't be solved by that toolkit. After many failures at fixing it, I gave up and coded the proper fix using the Windows API. This nixes any cross-platform features, but hey, it WORKS.

In other news I found a work-around for the problem I encountered with the App Store. It works under iTunes, but not via the iPod. So I downloaded the new apps I wanted via iTunes and then synced the iPod rather than doing everything via the iPod. It's not as easy and took forever to install everything that way, but again, it WORKS.

The link for the day is another example of things working out: nature finds a way indeed.
