|The plan for today was to sit back, watch movies and doodle. That's pretty much what I did, though I ended up only having time for two movies.
The first movie, The Thief and the Cobbler, was a very 1960s film. The animation was very fluid -- as in nobody had bones and perspective was never taken into account. The latter was used as a gag at one point. Making things weirder than the psychedelic visuals was the inclusion of several musical numbers. Very very odd little film. That said, it's still worth watching at least once in your lifetime.
The other movie was selected solely for being utter crap. It was a blatant knock off of a good movie, and this really showed. At best the animation quality was subpar for someone in an introductory animation course. The dialogue wasn't much better, though it did provide something of a plot. The movie was "Chop Kick Panda", an obvious rip off of Kung Fu Panda. Also, despite the movie's poster being in 3D the entire thing was done in 2D Flash animation. For a real kicker, it has a rating of 2.5 out of 10 stars on IMDB.
As I mentioned, I did a fair amount of doodling while watching these movies -- moreso during the second one. Most of the sketches turned out decent enough to ink and color later, but the attempt at a Plusle ended up utter crap. This was largely due to me having a brain fart and failing to remember quite what that Pokemon looks like. Thus I ended up with a flat Pillsbury Doughbunny instead of the positively charged electric mouse I was going for.
Tomorrow I'll resume working on the blog script's documentation. Once that gets finished I may take a stab at coloring some of the doodles from today.
In the meantime, enjoy one of the catchier musical numbers from the Thief and the Cobbler: Meet the Brigands.
