|I'm feeling better today, as things are stabilizing out again. Thus most of the day was spent trying to do stuff for DBHL. While both tutorials were written, I'm not terribly happy with the second one and opted to sit on it for a day. I'll see if I can come up with a simpler set of instructions tomorrow. Aside from that the update is just about ready.
Parts of the day were spent playing Borderlands, as I'd assume one would have already guessed.
Going in a different direction however I decided to install a Windows XP virtual machine so I could run the old programs and old help documents again. The new "seamless" mode really works well for this.
I tried working on the fan fic, but it's just not working. I'm having a terrible time getting characters to stay in character. No big surprise: that character's personality really changed over the two seasons we've seen as her character developed. Thus it's kinda hard to tell what is in character and what isn't. That's beside the fact that I found that character to be the most difficult to write during Heart of Silver.
I spent a fair amount of time playing some old quiet computer games and listening to some freshly downloaded instrumental music while I thought over the problem this evening, and I think I've found the answer. Shift the story's focus a little (ie, make the B plot the A plot and vice versa) and introduce an original character in place of the canon character that's giving me trouble. According to the Mary Sue Litmus Test, she'll be safely within the tolerable range. I'll also shift this to being the first of another series I was thinking of doing, and thus not a sequel to Heart of Silver directly.
Lastly, we lost Whitney Huston today, so the link of the day is one of her best videos.
