Stepping back and looking twice
Posted on February 5th, 2012
Like yesterday, most of the day was spent working on the models for the comic. After doing a lot of work and making apparent progress, I did some tests and found things weren't working out as well as the should. So I tried a few other ideas and those didn't really improve things.

Later, a little poking around in my files revealed two notes on the comic's new model design that had been overlooked. Tomorrow I'll see about starting over with that information included.

The other news of the day is that I gave Hexagon a try. This is a 3D editor by DAZ; normally it costs over $100, but it's currently on sale for nothing. After messing with it I can kinda see why. It's not very clear what you're doing, and everything is inconveniently located at the far top or far bottom of the screen. Wings3D has the best interface IMO. Now I'm just glad I didn't spend money on Hexagon. I may warm up to it in the future, but I doubt it.

Towards the end of the day I also spent some time on the fan fic. Nothing too major, just jotting down the rest of the first scene. It'll need some heavy revision later, but for now there's a framework to build on.

For the link of the day I give you a dose of undiluted cute.
