|Last night was a bit nuts. Sometime around 3:30 AM a bat got inside the apartment. The next few hours featured plenty of hysterics as we tried to get the bat to fly back outside. Mostly it just remained latched on the apartment door and blinked at us. In the end it disappeared, presumably flying out of the balcony door.
I wasn't able to get back to sleep after that.
Much later, after a meal of hot Alexia goodies, I took a nap. That nap ended up being about 5 hours long.
I spent today working with the feed script I created for this blog. At first everything seemed to be in order, then several rss reading tools started re-posting everything. I tracked the problem down and re-wrote the script, so hopefully that's the end of that. One of the main reasons I created the feed script was to allow people back on LiveJournal to continue reading my tripe without having to add yet another site to their bookmarks. If they want to read along, all they need to do is friend uguardian_rss and the posts will show up on their friend page like they used to.
Thanks to the surprise visitor last night I found a couple of bat related sites.
First up is Bat World, which has a wealth of information about the flying mammals.
The second link goes a long way to prove my lack of sanity. Count Count performs the Batty Bat dance.
Lastly there's a page about someone using tupperware to catch and release the bats.
Hopefully tonight won't have any surprises and that the feed works correctly. I might tweak the feed's script to include the timestamp within the entry itself, but that seems redundant at the moment.
