||Thanksgiving a day late
Posted on November 27th, 2010
|Today we had our little Thanksgiving celebration. It was somewhat humorous that mom filled up with half a plate to go, dad filled up after his first plate and I had seconds with desert.
Most of my day had been spent working on the new guts for my sites. So far everything is working as designed, with no unexpected troubles.
I took another look over Din's code, and I think the best course of action is to -- you guessed it -- start over again. I think the order of operations got a bit mixed up, and there's some major streamlining that could be done. It was a good start, but it's not good enough.
During the evening I looked through the backups, cleaning out obvious debris. After I gathered up all of the image collections I've acquired throughout the years, I looked at the mess and deleted them. There's no way to tackle that big of a mess, so rather than try I'll just start over. I'm going to code up a gallery program to make managing them easy and effective. I figure heck, I wrote a slideshow program in just a morning. This isn't much more complex.
At the end of the day I got hit by a bout of the trots, meaning I had to wait for things to calm down before I could even think about going to bed. Staying up turned out to be easy enough; the neighbors seem to be making a considerable racket tonight. I wouldn't be surprised if something gets knocked off a shelf.
Today's link of the day is a gallery of computers that will make you reach for the Lysol.
