Snookered

Last night didn't go well. I went to bed a little after midnight, but never fell asleep. I gave up and got up around 6:30 AM.

I stayed up until about 10:30, then crashed. I woke up again at 2:20 PM and have been up since.

We were going to do the shopping today, but I was in no shape for that.

I spent the day messing with Guild Wars rather than being productive. I don't think I can do anything worth much of anything today anyway. One of the things I did with Guild Wars was purchase a second Prophecies account. This allows me to use both of my computers to play the game, trade between characters and even GM for myself.

The old computer doesn't run Guild Wars well. In fact, I'd hardly call it playable. It's just enough to allow it to do what I need it to do.

Because of this, I decided to move to the official client on the main computer. Unlike the Steam version, there's a trick that lets you log in twice on the same machine. I've yet to use it (and probably won't) but I did notice something. The non-Steam version uses fewer resources and I can thus have the video quality much higher than the Steam version allows. That's pretty cool!

This also highlighted something interesting: when I installed Guild Wars on the old computer I got a message about the video card not supporting 3D features. This is probably why my tests using OpenGL earlier in the year failed so badly on that machine. I've reloaded them and I'll poke at them later on.

During the evening about ten police cars went flying down the road sirens blazing. No idea what that was about, but I did notice that they were from the neighboring city instead of our own police force.

Tomorrow we'll be heading downtown to straighten a few things out with SSI.

Today's link of the day is a freaky owl that radically changes shape when threatened.
