||Longest install ever

|This morning we got our car back from the shop. Shortly after mom and I ran an errand to the local Staples for some printer ink. I picked up a game from the bargain bin's discounted section.
After failing to get this game to work, much like many of the other titles I've picked up recently, I posted to UF about the seeming quality issue with newer games. Over the course of the afternoon that thread continued, and it was eventually revealed that it was a misconfiguration of my system that was to blame for these troubles. It seems very dumb, but the solution was to install DirectX 7 and DirectX 9 over my DirectX 11 install. Backwards compatible isn't I guess. Now every game I've purchased recently save two works.
The new game came with an ad for a free to play MMORPG that looked interesting. I investigated and indeed, it seems to be free. So I downloaded the client and installed it.
And that sums up my evening. It took FIVE HOURS to install that game, and the computer was all but unusable during that time as it tied up the processor.
While waiting for the game to install, I watched two episodes of Batman:TAS with mom. I've been meaning to show her both Poison Ivy and the Mad Hatter; she's fond of gardening and Alice in Wonderland after all.
I've played the MMORPG for about half an hour. So far, I have yet to see anything that explains or justifies the insane install time. meh. I'll play it further tomorrow. Oh, BTW, the game's characters aren't voiced, so it's not a trillion voice overs that bog down the install.
Today's link of the day is a little sound game called Nudge.
