|Shortly before falling asleep last night I realized that neither Windows VM had very large hard drives. The first thing I did today was to check just how small their drives were, and found that the XP VM's drive was about 75% full and the 98's drive was barely large enough for the basics. So I spent the morning and afternoon reinstalling both with much bigger hard drives.
Throughout the day I tried installing various old titles to see what worked. Streets of SimCity and SimCopter are both running again, as is the Incredible Machine.
I tried and failed to get the old flight sim working, so I went online for more recent flight sims. Flight Gear took an eon to download and proved to be TOO realistic; as a result I couldn't get any plane to start their engines, let alone taxi or fly. I uninstalled it and searched out another -- simpler -- game. I found YS Flight, which is about as bare bones as you can get. It's perfect; though I need to get better at handling the planes. The game's homepage leaves a lot to be desired design wise though.
I did do some productive stuff today (ie, something other than play games). I finished the perfected version of the bitmap library. It's much faster, and with a little tweaking I can make it faster still.
While all of this installing was going on, I started reading Order of the Stick. I've only looked at it when somebody mentioned it was interesting, so now I'm reading it through.
Tomorrow morning Pov goes to the Vee Eee Tee for a comb out. This'll be fun as it involves getting up very very early.
The link of the day for today is a video of YS Flight. Specifically, it's a video featuring models of the Blue Angels.
