On government efficiency
Posted on March 4th, 2010
This morning began with the yearly trip to Social Services. We weren't there long; despite the ominous letter requesting a metric ton of papers and warning that the appointment would take up to and possibly over two hours, the entire thing was over in 30 minutes. It was practically just a check that yes, I still live in the United States.

We decided to go from there to the grocery store to pick up more cat food and our lunches. I picked up a sub and then decided to splurge a little and picked up some BBQ chicken. The sub then became my dinner.

The rest of the day was spent revamping some code into a program that generates sounds by taking input from images. You quite literally draw the sound you want. The downside of this is that getting the program to output sound properly resulted in a number of brown notes and so my ears and head have been ringing all evening.

I also decided it would be a good idea to put the RPG project on hold for a moment and create a simpler adventure game. The idea was to start simple and build up, so an adventure game with a fixed map, items and enemies would be a simpler target than a full-fledged RPG with multiple maps, random encounters, boss fights, character classes, item inventories, spell inventories, stats and a plot.

Lastly, I ran across a site that has a lot of pretty Christian-themed desktop wallpapers for download in my travels.
