Tighting the bolts

The majority of my morning and early afternoon was spent investigating an idea about the SDL library and graphics. 24-bit BMPs are huge, and slow to load, so I went after alternatives. I'm not confident on SDL_Image however, so I stuck to various flavors of BMPs and my own design. Overall, 8-bit BMPs had the best results. My custom format had dramatically better results than any BMP flavor when loading images over a networked drive, but only average results otherwise. So I'll be converting images to 8-bit in the future.

The rest of the day was spent touching up the new site and prepping a simple hangman game for release. When working on the site I got some help from a few members of UF, and credited them on the site's homepage.

Lastly, in an amusing case of thinking about things too much, here's a page that takes the short sound clips from Sinistar and attempts to contemplate life, the universe and everything by examining them.
